Option 1 — One-Time Financial Plan, Billed Hourly
$375 per hour
If you want answers to a specific set of questions — or a complete financial roadmap you can implement on your own — this is the most cost-efficient way to get professional advice. You pay for the hours your situation actually requires, and nothing more.
What a typical engagement costs
Most comprehensive one-time plans take 10 to 16 hours, or $3,750 to $6,000. Focused, single-topic work (a Social Security timing analysis, a Roth conversion review, a portfolio second opinion) is usually 3 to 6 hours, or $1,125 to $2,250.
You’ll know the number before you commit. After a free introductory call, we provide a written fee estimate as part of your client agreement. We do not begin work until you’ve approved it.
How billing works
Half of the estimated fee is due at your initial meeting; the balance is due when the work is complete. We never bill more than $500 more than six months in advance. Payment by check or credit card.
This option is a good fit if you:
- Have one or two specific decisions to make
- Are comfortable implementing recommendations yourself
- Want an independent second opinion on advice you’ve received elsewhere
- Prefer to pay for advice only when you need it
Option 2 — Ongoing Financial Planning
$8,000 per year — flat, regardless of your portfolio size
Note: $2M minimum.
Some financial lives don’t get resolved in a single plan. If you’re navigating a retirement transition, equity compensation, a business sale, or simply want a professional in your corner year-round, ongoing planning gives you continuous advice instead of a one-time document.
Your fee does not grow with your portfolio. A traditional advisor charging 1% takes $10,000 a year on a $1 million portfolio — and $20,000 on $2 million, for largely the same work. Our fee is $8,000 whether you have $2 million or $5 million. As your assets grow, your cost stays flat and the effective percentage you pay goes down.
Our minimum for this service is $2 million in investable assets. Below $2 million we feel option 1 is better for most clients.
We still don’t manage your money. You keep your accounts at your own custodian, in your own name. We give you specific, written investment recommendations you implement — or we walk you through implementation together. We are never paid by the funds, products, or platforms we recommend.

What You'd Pay a 1% AUM Advisor Instead
| Portfolio | 1% AUM advisor, per year | Our ongoing fee |
|---|---|---|
| $500,000 | $5,000 | $8,000 |
| $1,000,000 | $10,000 | $8,000 |
| $2,000,000 | $20,000 | $8,000 |
| $3,000,000 | $30,000 | $8,000 |

Over 20+ years, the difference compounds — every dollar not paid in fees stays invested and working for you.
Not Sure Which Fits?
Choose the one-time plan if…
You have a defined question, you like implementing things yourself, or you want to try working together before committing to an ongoing planning.
Choose ongoing planning if…
Your situation changes often, you’re within five years of retirement, you have equity compensation or business income, or you’ve found that a plan on a shelf doesn’t actually get implemented.
Still unsure?
Start with a one-time plan and move to ongoing planning later. There’s no obligation either way — book a free 20-minute call and we’ll tell you honestly which one might be better for you.
